Media production students on a tour of the RTV Centre Maribor

Media production

Students of the Media Production programme visited the RTV Centre in Maribor, which is part of the largest public media institution in the Republic of Slovenia – Radio Television Slovenia – as part of the Introduction to Media course. During their visit, they had the opportunity to learn more about the workings of the broadcaster, which plays a key role in the Slovenian media landscape.

The permanent guest lecturer, Mr Dušan Tomažič, who guided the students through the tour, introduced them to the history and importance of public service broadcasting, its organisational structure and its diverse production work, which includes the creation of news, cultural, educational and entertainment content. In addition, they were introduced to the challenges facing public service television in the modern digital environment and its role in providing quality and impartial information to the public.

During the visit, students also had an insight into the technical processes behind the camera, including working in TV and radio studios, editing, directing and operating modern media technology. This insight into the practical workings of a media house allowed students to better understand the theory covered in their courses and further motivated them to continue researching and creating in the field of media production.
