The diploma thesis focuses on a comparative analysis of two crucial processes in the metal processing industry – casting and welding – for the production of welded constructions. The main aim of the research is to enhance the competitiveness of welded joints, with an emphasis on optimizing the welding process.

The first part of the thesis provides a detailed comparison of casting and welding, including the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of the end products, as well as the economic aspects of both processes.

In the second part, the focus is on optimizing the welding process to achieve greater competitiveness of welded joints. The research involves studying various welding techniques, using advanced materials, and incorporating modern technologies and innovations into the welding process.

Special attention is given to improving the strength, corrosion resistance, and aesthetic appearance of the final welded constructions.

With a practical example, we show how to achieve the desired results and also how to optimize the product. With this example, we also show how the same product is made with different technological processes and has comparable mechanical properties.

In this way, we want to present customers with different options, which are similar in terms of price and functionality, and in which they can choose different technologies in different circumstances.

In the diploma thesis, we also touch on digital technologies for improving processes, from various software solutions to the use of modern digital technologies. This area is developing the most at the present time and can contribute the most in the development of product technology.

All companies in their development reach the inevitable step of process optimization through digitization.   The diploma thesis also describes several methods that would help developing companies to choose suitable methods for improving processes and ensure competitiveness on the market.

The results of the study will be beneficial for industry professionals, engineers, and decision-makers in choosing the optimal production process for specific applications. Furthermore, the optimization of the welding process will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of products in the market, which is crucial for the success of companies in today’s global environment.
