In the diploma thesis, I explored the impact of high-quality product photography on the brand and recognition of small businesses. The purpose of the thesis was to analyze how important the quality of photographs is for the sales and development of small businesses and to determine how many small business owners still opt for this service – hiring professional photographers to produce product photos.

I began this research because, due to my creative personality and desire for new hobbies, I started making jewelry, cups, and other decorative, handmade products. As a result, I had to deal with product photography and thus combined my passion for creating with my love for photography.

The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical par,t I presented theories on the importance of visual product presentation and how to set up a workspace with the equipment. I investigated the significance of light and color temperature in this context.

Since I was exploring not only product photography but also marketing and successful product promotion, I included chapters on these topics as well. I focused on how product photography and a good brand presentation can contribute to greater success and customer trust. I also described 360-degree photography in online sales and outlined its advantages.

In the practical part,I presented the results of surveys conducted among small business owners and potential customers. Additionally, I explored techniques for creating attractive photos on a limited budget, which is particularly relevant for small businesses with constrained financial resources.

The diploma also included a brief interview with two product photographers who helped me delve deeper into the subject. At the end of the thesis, I discussed the influence of photos on customer decisions. My main question was: “How significant is the impact of photo quality on identical products?”

I conclude the thesis with recommendations for small businesses on how to improve product photography to achieve better sales results and greater market visibility. With all the knowledge gained through this research, I created my own media product, an online catalog of my creations.
