Photography
In my thesis, I researched the impact of the quality of product photography on the sale of products. My goal was to prove that professional high-quality product photography, which requires advanced photography skills, careful planning and greater financial investment, yields increased sales and brand recognition for the client.
Hiring a good product photographer can be a hefty investment. Such investments can represent large costs for small entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs who are just starting out. Entrepreneurs find these costs unnecessary because today, with the widespread availability of capable cameras and photo editing programs, they have the ability to create adequate product photos themselves.
The thesis is divided into a theoretical section and a research section. In the theoretical section, I presented the field of product photography, specifically addressing what product photography is, what equipment is best for creating high-quality product photography, the elements of good product photography and how the price for product photography services is determined.
The purpose of the theoretical section is to systematically and accurately present what is necessary to create a high-quality product photo that brings companies real results in product sales. In the research section, I tried to prove that quality product photography yields greater sales of the advertised product.
I created three promotional posters for a body lotion, which all varied in quality. Each poster was individually displayed in front of the store for a period of one week, with sales of the advertised product then monitored. My goal was to prove that the sales of the product would be the highest when the highest-quality poster was displayed, the production of which would be the most expensive for the client.
In addition, I explored four hypotheses related to the field of product photography. The aim of the first hypothesis was to confirm the claim that the correct choice of location for the ad is more important than the quality of the ad.
With the second hypothesis, I examined the impact of repeated advertisements on consumers. The aim of the third hypothesis was to investigate the impact of “influencer” posts and their effectiveness compared to high-quality TV ads. And finally, I explored the impact of artificial intelligence on product photography in the future.
