In my diploma thesis, I focused on redesigning the visual identity of Kmetija Samastur (Samastur Farm). Initially, I thought I would concentrate solely on creating a new corporate identity and a new symbol for the business. However, throughout the process, I realized that I was, building a whole brand for Kmetija Samastur.
The thesis begins with a description of my field and a definition of the problem. I outline my purpose and objectives, formulate basic hypotheses and list the research methods I used. My primary goal is to help Kmetija Samastur increase its visibility, thereby boosting sales and enabling it to compete with similar businesses.
In the second chapter, I focus on the theoretical aspects of my thesis, as theoretical knowledge played a key role in the practical work—designing a new logo and communication tools for Kmetija Samastur. I researched the methods of idea creation, the importance of typography and choosing the right colors, what a corporate identity is, what a brand is and how it can help a small agricultural company gain recognition and thus increase sales.
The next chapter describes how I approached research before beginning the concept design and which methods I employed. I analyzed competitors in the local and broader area and looked for examples of good practices from abroad. I then presented a questionnaire that was completed by family members of Kmetija Samastur. Finally, I shared the results of a survey filled out by 100 potential customers of Kmetija Samastur, which provided insights into their perspectives and what factors most influence their purchasing decisions regarding agricultural products.
In the fourth chapter, I detailed and visually presented my process for designing the new visual identity of Kmetija Samastur and the development of the brand. I described how I conceptualized the idea, the colors and typography I selected, the symbol I created, and the communication tools I designed.
In the final chapter, I bring everything together, summarizing my reflections on the design and writing process in light of my initial purpose, goals, and hypotheses. I concluded that this thesis was a significant challenge due to the farm’s diverse offerings and my efforts to improve my work. Additionally, I realized that I had unknowingly started to develop the company’s brand rather than merely redesigning its graphic identity.
