In this thesis, we focused on safety in casinos and gaming salons. We were particularly interested in how safety is ensured in Slovenia. In the theoretical part, we first used professional literature to describe the types of gambling present in Slovenia and provided a brief historical overview of gambling in the country, from its origins to the present day. We then focused on the legislation that governs and regulates gambling in Slovenia.

Examined how gambling is monitored, what measures are in place to prevent excessive gambling, and the legal protections available in this context. We also reviewed the role of the gambling industry in the country’s economic development and its importance for tourism in Slovenia. We also analyzed how modern technologies are used to improve security and transparency in casino operations.

Since gambling poses a potential risk for addiction, we explored how public education and awareness-raising efforts are conducted in Slovenia to inform both the general public and players about this risk. Additionally, we investigated the measures implemented to prevent addiction and the support provided to those already struggling with it.

We also looked at some strategies implemented in Slovenia to prevent addiction and help those who have already been affected by it. In the following chapter, we described the types of security threats most commonly encountered in casinos, highlighting the weaknesses in security infrastructure associated with them. We also examined the training of staff in handling security threats, their cooperation with relevant authorities, and the issues related to non-compliance with safety regulations and laws in casinos.

In the empirical part, we formulated three hypotheses and three research questions on the topic of casino safety. We answered the research questions using a survey questionnaire. Through the analysis of the responses, we obtained data that illuminated the challenges in the area of casino security.

In the concluding chapter, the survey questionnaire helped us confirm or refute the proposed hypotheses. Our research provided a deeper insight into how casinos in Slovenia operate in terms of safety. Finally, we briefly outlined our own opinion on casino safety in Slovenia.
