Comparison of the building of a meteor sewage system using PP pipes versus PVC-UK pipes on a practical case

My diploma thesis presents a comparison of the construction of a PP and PVC – UK sewage system, based on a practical example.

I am talking about sewers, ways of draining water, elements of the sewer network, and their interpretation. I briefly described the various pipe materials and highlighted their advantages and disadvantages related to the location and field of use.

The design procedures and the method of selecting the correct pipe based on wastewater are described. As a result, the methods and stages of wastewater treatment are also described. The main goals of the diploma work are to determine the best way to implement sewers and to describe different methods of implementing joints between individual materials.

During the course of the diploma, the methods of excavation in the construction of sewers and the implementation process are also described.

I focus mainly on the material used in the construction of sewers, namely ribbed PP pipes and smooth PVC-UK pipes. The purpose is to determine the suitability of the above-mentioned materials for use in the construction of sewers. Seen mainly from the point of view of the complexity of the work and the cost of the material.

Two construction projects in which I participated in the entire construction phase and on the basis of which I obtained the starting points and necessary information for the preparation of this diploma are presented graphically and descriptively.

These two projects are the reconstruction of the Miklavž – Hajdina road through the Miklavž settlement the arrangement of the sidewalk and the construction of the sewage network in the Dravski Dvor settlement. I wanted to present the execution of works in practice on the construction site.

The Ptujska cesta chapter describes the procedures for preparing the crib to the appropriate height, with the usage of sewage laser and height profiles. The problems we faced during construction and how we solved them are also presented.

A big role in the smooth running of the projects is the key contact between the contractor and the designer and the submission of proposals from both sides. When constructing a storm sewer for a road whose asphalt surface, together with the pavement, is at least 12 meters, it is important to properly select and dimension the sinking method.

Therefore, in a certain part, I focus on the choice of the method of sprouting. At the end of the seminar assignment, I made a comparison of two sewage systems and combined all the obtained data on time and costs into a table.
