Based on my practice throughout the entire period, which includes considerable experience, my thesis focuses on researching the geological composition and determining the foundations of buildings and foundation soil rehabilitation. I thoroughly researched and compared two similar buildings and almost identical commercial or shopping centers.

They differed only in the fact that the CP Ravne Shopping Center was only partially underground and had storerooms on the ground floor, while the Slovenj Gradec shopping center had storerooms partially in the basement and two stair cores and an elevator, which is not present in the CP Ravne Shopping Center.

The two buildings stand on completely different foundations; in the CP Ravne Shopping Center building, a deep foundation was required with U-neck reinforced concrete piles with a diameter of 100 cm, while in the Slovenj Gradec Shopping Center, the terrain with minimal rehabilitation under the foundations and the drive-through slab of the garage basement was sufficiently load-bearing for the implementation of a shallow foundation.

To identify options for replacing various implementation methods, individual chapters study the possibility of replacing the complete terrain of the foundation floor in the CP Ravne Shopping Center building and the possibility of replacing reinforced concrete drilled piles with driven micro ductile piles in the CP Ravne Shopping Center building.

In the research, I also compared different implementation methods in terms of cost, economy and time in individual chapters, e.g. studying and comparing the cost and economic feasibility of replacing the entire terrain of the foundation floor with reinforced concrete drilled piles in the CP Ravne Shopping Center building.

For the research, I used data on the works actually performed (reinforced concrete and drilled piles) and the geological and geotechnical report to calculate quantities of a complete replacement of the terrain of the foundation soil. When calculating the costs and quantities, I found that the complete replacement of the terrain of the foundation floor is pointless, since deep foundation is cheaper for approx. 43% and also faster.

In the second part, I compared deep foundation of the CP Ravne Shopping Center building and minimal renovation of foundations of the Slovenj Gradec Shopping Center. Based on calculations, I researched and proved that the geological composition of the foundation soil is more favorable and the facility is built on a more rational location in terms of cost justification.

I proved that, for a building on such a favorable foundation soil, the preparation of the foundation soil can be up to five times cheaper if deep foundation is not required.

In the third part, I compared and described the possibility of replacing reinforced concrete drilled piles with driven micro ductile piles in the CP Ravne Shopping center building. Based on data obtained from a static calculation of the bearing capacity and the geological and geotechnical report and implementation, I determined the required number of piles with the length of the reinforced concrete and drilled piles.

The bearing capacity of the pile was assigned to the same value, i.e. 7,543 kN. Based on a calculation, we found that we needed 5.89 pcs for one reinforced concrete U-drilled pile and that the construction would be 38% more expensive, but we would accelerate it by approx. 40% compared to the implementation of door piles.
