Construction & Civil Engineering
Construction and especially construction work itself, is often an underestimated profession. Almost everyone would like to be their own boss, or they have a parent, grandfather, or neighbor who is, and so “knows” and “can” do quality work, especially how much it costs and how long it takes.
This fact is also not helped by the workforce, which is often uneducated and inexperienced. Of course, we can say that the system is to blame, but if more attention was given to education, the service would consequently also be more expensive, which would not please investors.
Therefore, if we want to be successful, we need enough knowledge and the right way of thinking, which is well described by the saying: “Any fool can build a bridge that stands, but only an engineer can build a bridge that barely stands.”
With this way of thinking, we approach the entire project and all factors that affect the execution and successful handover. This mentality leads us to seek optimal solutions in terms of quality, implementation and speed to ensure that the project is also financially successful. This is the basic guideline, as this is the only way we can successfully operate in the ever-changing free market.
In the construction of Hotel X, we focused especially on the minimum requirements of the investor and what was designed by the architect. Thus, in the first part of the diploma thesis, we focused on the claim that by changing the use of a typical drywall, we can save on construction time and costs, while still remaining within the legally permitted limit values that are required for such a project.
In the second part, we examined different types of thermal insulation boards with the same principle, with which we can insulate the ceiling against unheated spaces. We had to consider several factors, such as thermal conductivity, sound conductivity, fire protection, and also the final appearance or necessary treatment after the installation of the panels. In the third part of this diploma thesis, we determine possible ways of shading hotel rooms.
The logical solution is to use external blinds, but this can also be achieved with the use of reflective glass, where we also identify the advantages and disadvantages.
Finally, as part of the main topic, let’s consider the use of artificial intelligence and chatbots to help prepare an offer for the execution of works, the obstacles, advantages and challenges that that brings and the importance that the use of this will represent in the future.
