Media production students at the exhibition of the 70th anniversary of the Maribor Art Gallery

Media production

Students of the Media Production programme visited the Maribor Art Gallery with lecturer Aleksandra Saška Gruden as part of the Media Art and Visual Communication course, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary with the exhibition “Spectrum. 70 Years of the UGM Collection”.

The exhibition “Spectrum. 70 Years of the UGM Collection”, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the gallery, offers an insight into the gallery’s rich artistic heritage and shows the development of fine art in Slovenia over the last seven decades. It presents more than 250 works of art by Slovenian artists from the 20th and 21st centuries and explores how artistic expressions and practices have changed.

Students had the opportunity to learn about different artistic practices, from classical painting and sculpture to contemporary multimedia installations. They paid special attention to how media art influences the perception and interpretation of artworks and how visual communication is expressed through different media. The exhibition is conceived as a multi-layered narrative, where the layout is based on the formal characteristics of the artworks, such as color, texture ,and shape, thus providing visitors with a unique experience.
