On June 13, 2024, the vibrant city of Klaipeda, Lithuania, hosted the final partnership meeting for the “Digital Challenge in Higher Education” project, funded by ERASMUS+ programme. Meeting took place at the Klaipeda University Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Educators and experts from Italy (Link Campus University – coordinator, Entropy Knowledge Network), Greece (Hellenic Open University), Lithuania (Klaipeda University), Romunia (The institute for education) and Slovenia (Academia) gathered to reflect on the achievements, challenges, and future directions of the D-ChallengHE project.
The partnership meeting featured detailed discussions on various work activities:
- European Innovation HUB is a community of university institutions, scientists, researchers, decision-makers, policy managers, and educators dedicated to the in-depth study of the complex social implications of digital transformation in Higher Education. The HUB strengthens connections within and outside our community to support our work, promote collaboration among HEIs, and encourage a transdisciplinary perspective.
- Training for innovative online teaching in HE aimed to produce an online environment for online professors in HE ‘ framed in the project D-ChallengHE’. It contributes to the project’s main aims by targeting the priority of the digital transformation, development of digital readiness, resilience, and capacity of HE professionals and institutions. The overall goal of the activity was to provide professors and the educational community with a skill set that will enable them to improve their digital availability for education.
- Engagement tools for tutors and learners in a HE online learning environment to enhance the digital skills of students and young researchers or support staff and develop innovative methodologies/tools to be integrated into Higher Education online learning environments.
- Impact and Recommendations – This segment addressed the project’s overall impact and future recommendations.
The meeting concluded with a session to recognize the contributions of all team members, highlighting their dedication and hard work.
Scientific-Practical Conference: Digital Innovations in Higher Education
Following the partnership meeting, the spotlight shifts to the “Digital Challenge in Higher Education” conference on June 14, 2024, at Klaipeda University’s Aula Magna conference hall. This event was poised to be a pivotal gathering for educators in higher education, focusing on the intersection of digital innovation and education.
Keynote Sessions:
- Prof. Dr. Stefania Capogna, Link Campus University, discussed the role of the European Digital Innovation Hub in higher education.
- Nina Gaube, Academia Ltd., presented the online platform and results of the pilot implementation of three innovative online training modules to improve the digital availability of HE professionals and institutions for education.
- Dr. Olimpius Istrate, iEDU, explored the transformative impact of AI in education.
- Roberto Vardisio, Entropy Knowledge Network, highlighted engagement tools like serious games for tutors and learners.
- Dr. Simona Velea and Dr. Olimpius Istrate, iEDU offered guidelines for designing, delivering, and evaluating online and blended learning programs.
Embracing the Future of Digital Education
The final D-ChallengHE partnership meeting and conference at Klaipeda University represented a culmination of collaborative efforts and shared visions for the future of digital education.
